One of the top business types requested in the NRH citizen survey year after year is sit-down restaurants. As a result, Specialty Food and Beverage has been identified as one of the city’s target industries, with the Economic Development department regularly seeking to attract new restaurants to the community. Over the past several months, multiple unique dining establishments have chosen NRH as their new home.

At the beginning of the year, the city’s first Hawaiian-style poke restaurant arrived in North Richland Hills. Family-owned Kahuna’s, located at 8509 Davis Blvd., offers a menu that includes fun appetizers like kimchi fries and poke nachos, fresh entrees like signature poke bowls with fish and vegetables, ramen, boba tea and more.

Family-owned Garcia’s Latin Cuisine opened its doors in NRH in May. Garcia’s features multiple authentic flavors on its extensive menu with over 100 selections, featuring Salvadoran, Peruvian and Mexican dishes at its finest. Located at 8407 Boulevard 26 on the northwest corner of Harwood, Garcia’s offers traditional Tex Mex comfort food alongside appetizers like shrimp cocktail, plantain and yucca root dishes, seafood-based soups and entrees, a kid’s menu and much more.

Fatburger & Buffalo’s Express launched its first Texas location in North Richland Hills in June. Located near Kohl’s and Kroger in The Crossing Shopping Plaza at 6039 Precinct Line Rd., Fatburger & Buffalo’s Express is known for its made-to-order burgers, fat fries, chicken wings and real milkshakes. This location offers both to go and dine in options, as well as catering and delivery.

Locally owned and well known Berry Best BBQ recently relocated to North Richland Hills at 7509 Boulevard 26 in the former Poor Daddy’s Smokehouse across from NRH City Hall. Berry Best not only offers everything from ribs to turkey and brisket, but specializes in a made-from-scratch menu including smoked mac & cheese, baked beans, smoked collard greens and freshly made desserts.

Additionally, Enchiladas Ole, a restaurant whose Fort Worth location was voted one of Texas’ best Tex-Mex restaurants, announced they will be opening a location in North Richland Hills in late summer/early fall. Known for their enchiladas, the dining establishment will occupy the former Slim Chickens space at 9005 North Tarrant Parkway.
