Business Spotlight: Tropical Greenery

Tropical Greenery Photo

Tropical Greenery has been a staple in our community since it first opened in North Richland Hills back in 1978. Two brothers, Gary and Gavin Phillips, initially started their business with a $1,000 investment. As their business grew, their nursery on Hwy 26 quickly became the place to go for plants, as they offered tropical plants for both indoors and outdoors, along with seasonal blooming plants and shrubs. Since then, Tropical Greenery has grown into a successful business that is still family-owned and run by three Phillips brothers - Gary, Gavin and Greer.

In the early days, Tropical Greenery began as a retail business. Soon after, the brothers realized a second business opportunity and added an interiorscape program in 1982, leasing plants for offices, malls, restaurants, event rentals and more. They serve as a complete resource for their clients, offering design services and an ongoing plant care program. Tropical Greenery stands by their word and assumes 100% responsibility for keeping their commercial clients’ plants looking greenhouse fresh, with a continual replacement program free-of-charge. Because the Phillips brothers are so humble, you may not realize that they have a lot to boast about. For over 20 years, Interiorscape Magazine has ranked them as one of the Top 25 Largest Interiorscape Companies in the United States.

Still in the same location where they started over 40 years ago, Tropical Greenery is the only standalone nursery in North Richland Hills. While a lot has changed in the past 40+ years, much has stayed the same. For example, when you visit the store, you’ll often find one of the Phillips brothers there to serve you; the plants are exceptionally healthy and 100% organic; the selection is filled with variety; and rain or shine, a team member will accompany you to your car along with your purchase, making sure to close the car door for you before you leave. They even have the same “scratch and dent” corner that they’ve had for years, where you can find great deals on plants that may not meet the Phillips brothers’ superior standards, but are still in great shape, just needing a little extra TLC. If you’re looking for plants for your home or business, be sure to keep Tropical Greenery in mind. Their store is located on the south side of town at 7421 Hwy 26.
