NRH Business Spotlight - Lighting Etc.

Lighting Etc

If you’ve ever searched for unique lighting for your home in NRH, chances are good that you’ve heard of Lighting Etc. This family-owned, faith-based business has operated in Tarrant County for over three decades, calling North Richland Hills home for the past 14 years.

Your first time walking into the store may feel little overwhelming, as ceiling fans, chandeliers, sconces, and lamps in all shapes and sizes hang from every direction. With over 4,000 fixtures, fans, and décor items in their showroom, it’s no surprise to learn they have the largest display in all of Tarrant or Dallas Counties. Thankfully, the lighting consultants on staff are quick to swoop in and guide you through the showroom, helping to hone in on your perfect fixture.

If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, it’s hard to believe that items on display are just a fraction of the options available. In addition to the thousands of fixtures in the showroom, Lighting Etc. keeps an abundance of catalogs on hand, where you can continue your search until you find the ideal fit.

Lighting Etc. first opened in the early 80s when Bob and Norma Cooper, affectionately known as Granny and PawPaw, had a dream to bring decorative lighting, fans, and décor to the public at wholesale prices. Granny always said that everyone deserves to have beautiful lights, and she and her husband built a business on that belief. They prided themselves in offering excellent customer service and put their heart and soul into the business, handling everything from design consultations, ordering, delivering, and more. They instilled their passion for lighting, love for people, and hard work ethic in their children and extended family, who carry on the business today in North Richland Hills.

When Robby Cooper took over the family business in 2005, he wanted to purchase his own space, unlike his parents, who had always leased. After looking for a location for over a year, he discovered the current building, which formerly housed an O’Reilly’s Auto Parts store. Robby saw the potential and transformed the space into a beautiful showroom of their family’s dreams.

Since then, the Cooper family has been working with homeowners, designers, and builders across the nation to meet their lighting needs. They’ve even racked up multiple national awards including being named “Showroom of The Year” by Residential Lighting Magazine, a Finalist for the Arts Award, and “Retailer of the Year” by Crystorma Lighting.

If you find yourself in need of lights or ceiling fans for your home, Lighting Etc. is a great place to start. With decades of knowledge and more options on site than any other shop in DFW, you’re sure to find a fixture that fits your style. Check them out online at or visit in person at 6040 Rufe Snow Drive.
