A majority of the schools serving the North Richland Hills community were recently listed among Tarrant County’s Top Schools by a non-profit group evaluating the entire state. All but 2 of the 20 schools (90%) received ‘B’ or better ratings, with twelve campuses ranking in the top of their respective grade levels. Top elementary schools include W.A. Porter, Green Valley, Liberty, Smithfield, North Ridge, Bear Creek Intermediate and Snow Heights (all A rated). Top middle schools include Smithfield Middle, Keller Middle, North Ridge Middle and North Richland Middle (all A rated). Concurrently all three high schools serving our community remain at the top with Keller (#2), Birdville (#9), and Richland (#17) when compared with the other 47 High Schools in Tarrant County. Special recognition goes to Smithfield Middle for being ranked #1 out of 96 Tarrant County middle schools!
The ranking process looks at a variety of educational benchmarks, including the following metrics:
- Student Achievement Index – Performance on STAAR Reading and Math tests
- Campus Performance Index – An adjustment of achievement indicators to eliminate bias toward campuses with low percentages of economically disadvantaged students
- Growth Index – The improvement over time on standardized test scores in Reading, English, and Math
- College Readiness Index – Graduation rates, SAT/ACT participation rate and scores, and AP/IB participation rate and scores
